How to use: Blur, hide and zoom parts of an image
- Add your photo or screenshot (JPG, PNG or WebP) by dragging it in or choosing it.
- Pick a tool (blur, pixelate, solid box, magnifier, spotlight, highlighter, outline, arrow, text or number) and drag on the image; with “Move” you can tap an item to move, change or delete it.
- Press “Apply and create file” and save the new image.
What it accepts and what you get
- Input
- A JPG, PNG or WebP image of up to 20 MB.
- Output
- A new image with your changes applied, as PNG, JPG or WebP. The original is not changed.
- Where your data is processed
- Your data is processed in your browser and is not sent to our servers.
Limitations and notes
- Everything happens in your browser: the image is not uploaded to any server.
- Blur and pixelate are not full protection: at low strength what was underneath can sometimes be reconstructed. For passwords, cards, ID documents or IBANs use “Solid box” and cover the whole detail.
- “Magnifier” enlarges a spot so it reads better, “Spotlight” darkens the rest of the image and “Sharpen” only improves a slightly soft photo a little.
- It does not recover or reveal what someone else hid in an image: that information is no longer in the file.
- The new file is built from scratch and keeps no EXIF data or location from the original photo.
Frequently asked questions
Is my image uploaded anywhere?
No. It is edited and saved in your browser.
Which is better for hiding a detail, blur or a solid box?
The solid box. Blur and pixelation leave traces of the picture that, at low strength, can sometimes be reconstructed.
Can I undo a change?
Yes, with “Undo” and “Redo”, or by selecting an item with “Move” and deleting it before you download.
When to use it
- Before sharing a screenshot with names, numbers or addresses you do not want to show.
- To point at part of a screenshot with a magnifier, spotlight or arrow in a tutorial.
- To number the steps on an image.
Examples
- Covering an account number
- Use “Solid box” over the whole number and download the new image.
- Highlighting a line
- With “Highlighter” you draw over the line and it shows in yellow.
- Reading small text
- With “Magnifier” you select the area and it is shown larger inside a circle.
Common mistakes
- Using a light blur to hide important details.
- Leaving an edge of the detail uncovered.
- Sharing the original image instead of the new one.
