How to use: Baby name ideas
- Type the father's and the mother's name.
- Choose boy names, girl names or both, and tick “Muslim names only” if you want just those.
- If you like, add the parents' birth dates and the baby's (or the due date) to see the signs and the character.
- Read the names with their meaning and copy the list.
What it accepts and what you get
- Input
- Two names (father and mother) and, optionally, up to three dates.
- Output
- A list of names with their meaning and the reason for each suggestion, made-up blends of your two names and, with dates, the zodiac signs with their character and the baby's lucky number, colours, day and stone. Each name also carries its numerology number.
- Where your data is processed
- Your data is processed in your browser and is not sent to our servers.
Limitations and notes
- Suggestions come from our own list of names with meanings, not from every name that exists: if none suits you, change the starting names or the filter.
- Meanings are the best-known ones; some names have several and the most usual is shown.
- The zodiac, numerology and luck are just a curiosity: they have no scientific basis. Some Muslims do not accept astrology and can ignore that part.
- Everything is worked out in your browser: names and dates are never sent or saved.
Frequently asked questions
How are the names chosen?
The tool looks for names that start like the father's or the mother's, or that have a similar beginning, ending or sound, and orders them by similarity and by how common they are.
What is the baby's date for?
With the birth date, or the due date, it works out the baby's sign and compares its element (fire, earth, air or water) with each parent's. It also shows its lucky number, colours, day and stone.
What is the name number?
The value of the letters of the name is added up (A=1 to I=9, then it starts again) down to one digit. It changes with how the name is spelt and it is just a game.
When to use it
- When a couple wants names that resemble their own and wants to know what they mean.
- For Muslim families looking for boy or girl names with their meaning.
Examples
- Bilal and Ayesha
- You get names that start with B or A or sound alike, each with its meaning, plus made-up blends built from pieces of both names.
- With the due date
- If the baby is due on 10 August the sign is Leo, a fire sign, and it is compared with each parent's sign.
Common mistakes
- Taking the zodiac sign as a prediction: it is only a curiosity.
- Typing the names with many symbols or digits: only the letters count.
- Picking a made-up blend believing it has a traditional meaning: it does not.
