Compress a PDF to send it by email
Email services often limit attachment size. This tool rewrites the PDF and compresses its data without loss, in your browser. If the file cannot be reduced, it tells you instead of offering a useless download.
Good to know
- Compression is lossless: it does not lower the resolution or quality of the images in the PDF.
- If the PDF is heavy because of already compressed photos, it is normal for it to barely shrink; “could not be reduced” is a possible result.
- If it still does not fit in the email, “Split PDF” lets you send it in several parts.
- The file is not uploaded to any server.

Frequently asked questions
How much will my PDF shrink?
It depends on how the file is built. Many PDFs are already optimised and barely change; the tool shows you the real result.
What if it is still too big for email?
Try splitting it into several parts with “Split PDF” and send each part separately.
