Password-protect a PDF
Type a password twice and download a PDF encrypted with AES-256 that only opens with it. Encryption happens in your browser, so neither the file nor the password is sent anywhere.
Good to know
- Works with PDFs up to 25 MB that do not already have a password.
- If you lose the password there is no way to recover the content: TodoToolsOnline does not store it.
- Most readers respect the print, copy and edit permissions, but they are not a real barrier; the opening password is what protects the file.
- Open the resulting file to check that it asks for the password.
