How many pixels is a 10x15 cm photo (and other print sizes)

Start from a print size, set the resolution in DPI and read the pixels the image needs. It also works the other way: from a photo's pixels you see what size it prints at.

Good to know

  • At 300 DPI, 10×15 cm is about 1181×1772 pixels; 13×18 cm, about 1535×2126; 20×30 cm, about 2362×3543, and an A4 (21×29.7 cm), about 2480×3508.
  • 300 DPI is usual for print; if the print shop asks for another resolution, enter it and the result adjusts.
  • If your photo has fewer pixels than needed it will look less sharp when printed; enlarging it afterwards does not add detail.
  • Besides pixels you see the megapixels, the size in cm and inches and the uncompressed size.

Frequently asked questions

How many pixels is 10x15 cm?

At 300 DPI, 10×15 cm is about 1181×1772 pixels. At another resolution it changes: enter the size in cm and the DPI and the calculator gives you the pixels.

Is the uncompressed size what my photo will weigh?

No: it is the size of the image in memory. A real JPG or PNG takes up far less.
