Convert a PDF to an editable Word (DOCX) file
This tool extracts the text of a PDF with selectable text and groups it into likely paragraphs and headings inside an editable .docx. We tell you what it does not keep.
Good to know
- It needs a PDF with selectable text, up to 25 MB.
- It does not reproduce the layout: columns, tables, images, fonts and positions are lost.
- A scanned PDF has no text: without OCR there is nothing to extract and you are told so.
- Review the .docx in your word processor before using it.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the Word file not look like the PDF?
Because the text is extracted and reordered in your browser. A layout-faithful conversion would need a server-side layout engine, which is not offered.
Does it work with a scanned PDF?
Not directly: a scan is an image with no text. You would first need to recognise the text with the OCR tool.
